Required Continuing Education Courses and Options for Obtaining CEUs (see COMAR 10.53.04)

NEED PRE-APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF NURSING

CATEGORY HOURS ALLOWED DOCUMENTATION

Business Courses - if not in conjunction with a state or national association- small business accounting, taxes, or computer management related to business  3 hours  Completed application for CEU approval form and verification of course completion
University or College Courses - Courses must be approved by the Maryland (one semester credit) Higher Education Commission   10 hours Completed application for CEU approval and verification of course completion
Publications/Presentations - articles or presentations relative to electrology and not as a promotion for oneself, includes the time for research and preparation 4 hours Completed application for CEU approval form and copy of published article or copy of printed program
Home Study if not in conjunction with a state of national associations 4 hours Completed application for CEU approval and verification of study completion

PLEASE SEND COPIES OF CEU CERTIFICATES. THEY WILL BE RETAINED BY THE COMMITTEE. CEUs ARE DUE WITH RENEWAL APPLICATION. NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE AUTHORIZED.

1 clock hour = 1 CEU (Before .1 = 1/10 CEU; now .1 = 1 clock hour, no decimals unless over 1 hour; e.g. 1.5 hours) 10 CEUs required per year for renewal Submit pre-approved courses with renewal application; otherwise apply for approval before course is taken for CEUs.
