Information Regarding Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses Licensure

ONLINE RENEWAL OF LICENSURE

On-line License & Certification Renewal  is now available on the Board’s web site. Licensees will be able to renew on-line 90 days before and 30 days after the expiration date of their license (the 28th day of the licensee's birth month). Information about the web site is included in the renewal application that the nurse will receive.  Instructions for using on-line renewal can be found on the web site. The verification web site shows the updated information within 2-4 days after renewing on-line. Thus far the Board has received extremely complementary reviews from nurses using on-line renewals.

VERIFICATION OF LICENSURE

Verification of licensure is also on-line. A nurse can be verified using name or license number (addresses, and social security numbers do not appear for security reasons). The information can be printed for facility files. The Board asks that the on-line verification be used as the primary source for verification of licensure. The Board discontinued printing license cards as of April 1, 2007.  License cards can be duplicated and there is a problem with imposters in the State. The on-line verification is secure and updated daily Monday through Saturday.
