Transfer of Nursing Assistant Certification / Out of State Endorsement

Who Qualifies?

Effective July 01, 2002, Nursing Assistant applicants currently certified in any one of the following ten states may endorse / transfer their Nursing Assistant certificate to Maryland.

Delaware	Illinois	New York	West Virginia
Florida	Kansas	Oregon
Idaho	Maine	Virginia

Nursing Assistant applicants from a state NOT LISTED ABOVE must complete a Maryland Board approved 100 hour Nursing Assistant Training Program. A list of Maryland Approved Nursing Assistant Training Programs [PDF] may be found on the Board web page under the Education Department.

How to Transfer the Certificate

1. Complete an application for Nursing Assistant endorsement. 

A. Include a money order for the $20.00 application fee.

B. Submit a copy of the certification issued by your current state.

2. The Maryland Nursing Assistant Program verifies the out of state certificate with that state’s registry to assure the out of state certification is free from any findings of abuse or neglect.

3. A Maryland certification will then be issued.
