FACULTY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of nursing faculty vary according to the type of program and the educational setting. The following is a list of assignments that an individual may be expected to perform when assuming a faculty position in the different programs. It should be noted, however, that specific duties may vary with each position available at the individual college or university and while generalizations may be made, it is best to contact the individual college or university for specific information.

Associate Degree Programs:
  • Classroom teaching

  • Clinical instruction

  • Skills lab teaching

  • Student advising

  • Committee work

  • Curriculum development

  • Scholarly activities and service to the community and college may be required.

  • Classroom teaching

  • Clinical instruction

  • Committee work

  • Curriculum development

  • Scholarly activities, such as research, publication, grants, presentations, and incorporation of research findings into course curriculum are required
