COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND 

The practical nursing program at the College of Southern Maryland is the first step of a career ladder. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the licensure examination for practical nurses and can, if they wish, apply for admission to the 2nd year of the associate degree nursing program.

Graduates of the program will be prepared to give competent nursing care to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other comparable health agencies under the supervision of more experienced practitioners and with appropriate experience can assume increasing responsibilities in nursing.

PROGRAM TYPE: Practical Nursing
Registered Nursing: Associate Degree (A.D.N.) and A.D.N. completion program for L.P.N.s
PROGRAM LENGTH:  PN: Two academic semesters and one summer term, after prerequisite courses 
RN: Four academic semesters, after prerequisite courses
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Same as Associate Degree Program

College placement tests with scores for placement into: English 1010, Math 1100, Biology equivalent (Biology 2070, 2070L)
