Nursing Graduate Defined

The nursing graduate is an individual who is a graduate of either:

  • a Board approved registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical (LPN) nursing education;
  • or an out-of-state nursing education program determined to be equivalent by the Board.

This individual can be employed in the status of nursing graduate for no longer than ninety days; and may perform selected licensed nursing functions as stipulated in the Board’s Regulations Governing Licensure and Education COMAR 10.27.01.03(B), (see link to COMAR at the Division of State Documents).

As an alternative to the nursing graduate role, this individual may be employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) following certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing. Check here for details on the Nursing Graduate Working as a CNA.
