On-line Certification Renewal - Nursing Assistant Instructions

arrow bullet Social Security Number (SSN)

Anyone wishing to renew online MUST have his/her Social Security Number (SSN) on record with the Board. If your SSN is not on file with the Board, you must complete a mail-in renewal application. The Board uses your SSN to identify nursing assistants with the same or similar name. In addition, by law,  the Board is required to submit, upon request, the name, address, and SSN, if available, of each nursing assistant to the Department of Assessment & Taxation. Persons with a SSN on file can have his/her certification verified online or the telephone verification systems using the SSN. The Board does not give out SSN's upon request. It is considered confidential.
arrow bullet Supervising RN Approval

The nursing assistant should check with the supervising RN before completing the application on-line to make sure that the supervisor is willing to approve the renewal application on-line. The RN is required to approve the nursing assistant renewal application within five days of the date of the application is completed on-line. If the application has not been approved within five days, the data will be deleted and the application will no longer be available on-line. Only a RN with a Maryland license can complete the on-line renewal form. A supervising RN from another state may not approve the nursing assistant on-line application.
